Walk for Epilepsy – the Second National Epilepsy Week 2017

Walk for Epilepsy – the Second National Epilepsy Week 2017

The 2017 National Epilepsy Week

The 2017 National Epilepsy Week was a joint initiative, prompted by CareEpilepsy Ethiopia, between CareEpilepsy Ethiopia, the Federal Ministry of Health and the SNNPR Health Bureau, Hawassa. The aim of the event was to raise awareness about epilepsy and establish a sustainable model of access to anti-epileptic medication.

A principal goal for epilepsy education and awareness programs for the public at large is to combat stigma, in the hope that this will lead to improved quality of life for people with epilepsy. Misinformation and misconceptions regarding Epilepsy have a long history and are still prevalent throughout society.
